Nursing and Midwifery Council Registration Process
The NMC regulate nurses and midwives in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland and Nursing associated in England.
The NMC make sure nurses, midwifes and nursing associates have the skills they need to care for people safely, with integrity, expertize, respect and compassion from the moment they step into their job.
The NMC need to promote safety and public trust. They require professionals to demonstrate throughout their career that they are committed to learning and developing to keep their skills up to date and improve as practitioners.
All nurses and midwives who want to work in the UK must register with them. Their register consist of four parts.
- Nurses
- Midwives
- Nursing associates
- Specialist community public health nurses(SCPHN)
The nurse part of the registration is divided into four fields of practice.
- adult nursing
- mental health nursing
- learning disabilities nursing
- children’s nursing.
The Nursing and Midwifery Council requires all applicants to meet certain requirements before applying to join the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
